Experience

I have four years of experience tutoring the subjects of economics, engineering, physics, chemistry, and math. I enjoy helping my students; I worked as a tutor throughout college with students of varying ages from eleven to twenty-eight. The most amazing moment is seeing the material click in a student's mind; it is the same look, no matter how old the student. I really get a lot of enjoyment working with dedicated college students and self-motivated high school students. In addition to math and the sciences, I also tutor engineering and statistics. I take care to tutor at a good pace, and never rush through material. I focus on encouraging in my students independent thinking, and instilling in them the tools and techniques they need to be independent learners. I have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from West Virginia State University. My favorite classes were transportation engineering and fluid dynamics. Due to my studies, I have a deep knowledge of engineering, physics, chemistry, economics, and math, which made the latter part of high school very easy. However, my first year of college was a struggle because I didn't have study skills. I was an engineering student failing mathematics! I found a wonderful tutor who helped me immensely, and inspired me to help others with my knowledge. My hobbies include reading sci-fi/fantasy novels, woodworking, and video games.
